A Recipe for Life

As you know, I am a chef. But being a chef is more than what I do. It really embodies who I am. As a result I tend to look things a bit differently than most people. This includes my faith and how I relate to God.

I tend to look at life as a recipe. It has a bit of happiness, a bit of sadness, a dash of prosperity and a hint of want. Portions of ups and downs, there are parts of excitement and measures of boredom. But the thing that gives life flavor is God. God is the spice of life, it is faith which makes life worth living. Without Christ in our lives, our lives are flat, without any real taste, flavor or meaning.

It is too easy to fall into the same old dull routine. Yet, with God each day is new and full of grace. We are able to find joy even in the most mundane of things. It is our faith reinforced by prayer that God rewards.

So for me, the recipe for life includes a big heaping helping of God. Only by taking a big bite-o-God have I found a meal that satisfies my heart and soul.
